Rocking up at The Natural Stone Show, London ExCel.

The highlight of many a geologist’s calendar is the popular annual Natural Stone Show at London Excel 6-8 June.

 

Dr Andy King (pictured here on the left) Geckoella’s Technical Director and Principal Geologist gave one of the keynote presentations during the ‘Conservation Day’ at the Show, on the practical and planning challenges faced when identifying and sourcing local building stones for restoration, conservation and new developments.

 

Other presentations during the first session on Conservation Day were made by Historic Environment Scotland (outlining their new stone ‘Carbon Calculator’) and Historic England (introducing the new Building Stone Database for England – for which Geckoella has been one of the main geological consultants alongside the British Geological Survey).

 

Apart from a range of British stone and quarry operators attending the Show, there was also a very strong international element with suppliers from Europe (France, Italy, Portugal) and elsewhere (Turkey, China, Nigeria, India) present.”
