The courtyard at East Quay was the place to be for Paleontologists young and old yesterday as Geckoella showcased their first fossil roadshow. Dino the Velocoraptor was there along with some of Geckoella’s prime specimens from their Geological collection and even Mary Anning (aka Artist Amanda Shears) was reincarnated to share stories of Victorian Fossil collecting.
Geologists Dr Andy King, Dr Dave Evans and Jamie Foster were on hand to scrutinise the wonderful curios the public brought in for inspection. The day was launched with a raucous announcement fom the local Bell Man who is also a keen rock collector and sculptor in local Alabaster so the visitors were in good company.
Vistors to the show were able to see and hold all kinds of different specimens, spanning many millions of years from locally found examples to those from further afield.
Big thanks to everyone who came and supported the event and we hope we have inspired some future paleontologists.
