I’m Kate Jeffreys, one of Geckoella’s Directors and Technical Lead in Ecology. After working for NGOs and Natural England I set up Geckoella with Andy King in 2007 in Sri Lanka (Geckoella being the Genus of Gecko from the Indian subcontinent). We later set up set up Geckoella UK in 2010.
I enjoyed the tropical wildlife of Sri Lanka but eventually swapped that for the rocky shores of England’s West Country.
Now mainly SW based I enjoy my role as Director of Geckoella. I am responsible for the quality of management delivery of Geckoella’s environmental services and looking after our team of professionals working closely with my partner Andy King.
There is no typical day for me at Geckoella, the great feature of this company is the variety of work it carries out. An example day might include field work with Great Crested Newt Detection Dogs in Bristol, followed by checking in with a new Wetland site in Taunton ending in a session of bat work.
I am keen that Geckoella embraces and invests in technology and new techniques and keeps up to date and is at the forefront of our industry and is an exemplar of best practice.
To keep refreshed and in touch with nature I revell in the sea at my home by the coast both on and below the water; enjoying snorkelling and other water based pursuits.
